  • This is why it is so important to travel or educate our selves of the world outside of the industrialized nations. I find it so easy to get caught up in the details of my life, my stress, my desires, and goals. What I rarely  think about is 50% of the population is malnourished. My problems revolve around buying organic vs local or going out for dinner while much of the world is starving. My problems revolve around losing weight or being in "better shape" while much of the world is starving. We bust our ass to work off the calories we consume while much of the world is calorie deprived. We debate raw food, vegetarian, gluten free,  low glycemic, no carb, high fat low vs low fat and so on while much of the world would simply like to eat. We live in this society and our issues are still very real; but it is wakeup calls like this that I can't ignore. I sit here reading this this morning and only moments ago I was  complaining about the pressures of owning a home and business and studying. I should be so lucky to have these things. I will work to be less self absorbed and work to make a difference in the world, not just my world. I will work to change that 50% malnourished. Even in our worst moments we are not worried that our water is poisoning us and our children are dying  of starvation. Perspective is everything.
  • If you were unsure before now you know; we are all the same. 99.9% the same with .1% to play so make it count. With that .1% be as uniquely you as you can. Work that .1% in every self expanding way possible,  be different, change the world, express yourself, but never forget your 99.9% connected to everyone else. We come from the same place, we might think our race, or religion, or heritage is greatly different from another's but still we are so much the same. There are more of the same threads that weave through us than different. So hate less, judge less, separate less, realize just how much we share. There are  very few differences so be accepting and tolerant of them;  better yet embrace them because it is the differences that create beauty in our world. On the surface we can see the illusion of separateness and disconnection but science doesn't lie... 99.9 %. We are all one. OM Shanti Shanti Shanti
  • It's going to be a good day! If you start your day with what it is that centers you you will be stronger for it. Emails, calls, work, the craziness of life can wait just a little so you can find your centre. Today is a big day for me and I am so happy to have Ollie. She makes certain I get out of my head and into nature every morning and while sometimes it feels like I have no time for it, I know I am a better person because of it. A yoga practice, meditation, truly enjoying that sweet cup of coffee whatever it is for you. It  shouldn't be a bother or stressor, not something that adds to your list of things to do. Chose the thing that brings you peace and be fully engaged in that, even if it is just for a few moments.  This moment of freedom will keep me centered all day.
  • Celebrate.  Yes celebrate all your accomplishments. It's easy to get caught up in the work and what you would like to do or become, but along the path take time to celebrate where you are and what has brought you to this point. You earned it and deserve to rejoice. Give yourself permission to be proud and take stock in your efforts. Let your heart shine and revel in all the joy you have brought to your life. The things we worked hard for can easily become a bother; yard work on the house you were so happy to buy, promotion of an event you were so happy to host, getting up for a job you badly desired. Look at what you have created for yourself and enjoy it. Life moves quickly so don't miss a moment to celebrate.
  • Live your life by choice, not by chance. Stand up for yourself not taking on role of the victim. Explore your worth and never allow others to negotiate it down. I would rather have no job than work for someone who thinks they own me. Leave a relationship that ties you down or smoothers you. Risk for yourself instead of safely allowing others to control you. It is scarier to search your soul for your longing and see you have the power to reach for it than it is to blindly live day-to-day. the paradox; you may be scared to death to take the risk, but you will never feel more alive. Learning to get comfortable in the uncomfortable, strengthen your backbone but lead with your heart.
  • What does it mean to listen? To hear your inner voice? What does it mean to follow your heart, or your gut? If you get quiet enough maybe you will find out. It is not something others can teach you but the ability is within each of us. It is our true nature but we silence that voice as we don't always like what it has to say;  just like telling your self lies eventually they become your truth, silencing your voice causes it to hide away. Take control of your power, nurture your inner voice till you have no choice but to live what is true for you. Don't be afraid to step out of the white noise of society and do your own thing. Follow your inner guide, and you will always make the right choice.
